18-22 knots and we've changed down from a tight spinnaker reach to a close reach with the genoa. It's gray, raining, and bumpy, but we're loving every minute of it as we blast down a straight line to the finish at 8-9 knots of boat speed. Everyone is busy trimming, driving, or just counting down the miles as each watch vies to make the most miles at each shift change. Port watch still leads the Starboard watch on total miles, and we remind them of it every chance we get. We're within hours of catching Carina, who should be finished by now. They may have cross the line, but the race is far from over. |
