Snow Lion was built by New England Boatworks in 2006 to designs by Jason Ker. She was conceived as a boat which could compete seriously under the IRC and also have a life for cruising with family and friends. The boat has been successful in both regards.
She is 50 feet overall, with a beam of 14 feet. In her first race, she was first in class in the 2006 Bermuda Race. In 2010 she was second overall and in class to Bermuda. In the return trips from Bermuda, my grandchildren have been aboard to get their first taste of blue water cruising. In between she has participated in many racing events, including the 2007 Race to Hamburg, Germany and the 2007 Fastnet, where she earned first in class.
Note: In 2010, she placed 2nd in class and fleet in the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Division scored under ORR.
